The 'working' or therapeutic alliance is the fit between yourself and your clinician. The strength of this alliance is one of the most important indicators of positive change. If you feel that I am not a good fit for you once consultation or therapy commences, I would be more than happy to support you in finding someone to refer you to that may work better. For me, the goal is for you to get the support you are looking for.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BCACC, membership #18456. Benefit plan coverage varies, so please check with your extended health care provider to ensure that your plan covers RCC status.

EMDR is a psychotherapy approach designed to help people heal from distressing life experiences and trauma. It works by helping the brain reprocess stuck or overwhelming memories so they no longer trigger intense emotional or physical reactions. Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR supports the integration of past experiences, promoting emotional relief, clarity, and resilience.
NSST is a therapeutic approach that combines the insights of brain-based science with the humanistic, growth-oriented philosophy of Virginia Satir. Using the sand tray as a creative, nonverbal space, clients can explore their inner experiences, relationships, and emotions in a tangible way. NSST helps integrate mind, body, and emotion, fostering self-awareness, healing, and new ways of experiencing connection and choice.
CBT is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. By exploring the connection between thinking patterns and life experiences, CBT supports clients in developing practical coping skills, improving emotional regulation, and creating healthier perspectives for lasting positive change.
ACT is a mindfulness-based approach that helps individuals accept their thoughts and feelings rather than struggle against them. It focuses on building psychological flexibility by encouraging values-based actions and present-moment awareness. Through ACT, clients learn to live more fully and authentically, even in the presence of difficult emotions or experiences.
Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a listening-based therapeutic intervention designed to support regulation, connection, and a sense of safety. Developed from polyvagal theory, SSP uses specially filtered music to gently stimulate the nervous system, helping to calm the body, improve emotional resilience, and enhance social engagement. It can be helpful for individuals experiencing stress, trauma, anxiety, or sensory sensitivities.
Integrated Listening System (Focus or iLs) is a therapeutic program that combines specially designed music, movement, and cognitive activities to support brain integration and nervous system regulation. By engaging the auditory and sensory systems, iLs helps improve focus, emotional balance, coordination, and learning. It is often used to enhance overall well-being and support individuals with attention, sensory, or developmental challenges.
This psychotherapy is a humanistic approach that emphasizes the client’s innate capacity for growth and self-understanding. Rooted in empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard, this therapy creates a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their experiences, discover their strengths, and move toward personal healing and self-acceptance.
This approach recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment in the healing process. It emphasizes understanding how trauma affects the brain, body, and behavior, and integrates this awareness into all aspects of care. By fostering compassion, choice, and collaboration, trauma-informed practice supports recovery and resilience.
SFBT is a goal-oriented approach that centers on clients’ strengths, resources, and preferred futures rather than problems or past difficulties. Through focused conversations, clients identify what’s working and take small, meaningful steps toward their goals. SFBT fosters hope, empowerment, and practical change in a short time frame.
This psychotherapy is a collaborative approach that helps individuals explore and re-author the stories they hold about their lives. It views people as separate from their problems and emphasizes their strengths, values, and resilience. Through storytelling and reflection, clients can gain new perspectives, reshape limiting narratives, and create more empowering paths forward.
