Counselling can be very effective in managing challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression, relationships, negative self-image, etc, utilizing evidence-based practice and through the working alliance.

The 'working' or therapeutic alliance is the fit between yourself and your clinician. The strength of this alliance is one of the most important indicators of positive change. If you feel that I am not a good fit for you once consultation or therapy commences, I would be more than happy to support you in finding someone to refer you to that may work better. For me, the goal is for you to get the support you are looking for. 

I am a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with the BCACC, membership #18456. Benefit plan coverage varies, so please check with your extended health care provider to ensure that your plan covers RCC status. 

Your confidentiality and privacy are paramount to the safety of our working relationship. For example, if we were to run into each other in a public setting I will not approach or acknowledge that we are familiar with each other. Confidentiality and privacy are adhered to at all times with the exceptions of:

1. If you are at risk of harming yourself

2. If you are a risk to others

3. If children/youth under the age of 19 or vulnerable adults are at risk I have the duty to report

4. If your records are subpoenaed by the courts 

5. Some insurance providers may request general information (ex. session dates, treatment modality, etc.)

In any of these instances were to occur then it will be clearly explained to you. These limits to confidentiality exist to protect you, others and uphold the law.
